About HOPE Academies

The White Hat Way

Principle #1 – Individualizing instruction

The first major difference you will notice between White Hat schools and traditional public schools is individualized instruction. Traditional public schools typically have a single curriculum for all students. This one step approach to learning makes things convenient for the school system, but it hardly addresses the needs of individual students. At White Hat schools, we understand that all students don’t learn the same way or at the same pace.

That’s why we treat each student as an individual. We develop an educational plan that looks at each student’s academic strengths and weaknesses, personal circumstances and work situation. We then develop a personalized educational curriculum that sets forth specific academic expectations for each student and gives him or her the greatest chance to succeed.

The HOPE Academies and Riverside Academy are community schools established under Chapter 3314 of the Revised Code. These schools are public schools and students enrolled in and attending the schools are required to take proficiency tests and other examinations prescribed by law. In addition, there may be other requirements for students at the schools that are prescribed by law. Students who have been excused from the compulsory attendance law for the purpose of home education as defined by the Administrative Code shall no longer be excused for that purpose upon their enrollment in a community school. For more information about this matter contact the school administration or the Ohio Department of Education.
