About HOPE Academies

The White Hat Way

Principle #5 – Measuring and analyzing all educational outcomes to properly determine what aspects of our program are succeeding and how we can more comprehensively serve our students.

At White Hat, there’s an old adage that we live by that says, “What gets measured, gets done!” As a result, we try to track, measure and analyze everything we do.

Like other public schools, our schools are required to administer Ohio Proficiency tests. But as charter schools we must also undergo educational and financial audits twice a year and pass an exhaustive evaluation of all aspects of our schools, our operations and our academic improvement every five years.

All White Hat schools also use the highly-respected Iowa Cognitive Ability Tests to evaluate each student’s inductive, deductive, verbal and quantitative reasoning. These tests enable us to individualize our curriculum and give each child the greatest chance for success.

In addition, we survey our students and parents twice a year to make sure we are meeting their needs and fulfilling our mission as educators. Where we succeed we rejoice, and where we can improve we immediately implement change.

The HOPE Academies and Riverside Academy are community schools established under Chapter 3314 of the Revised Code. These schools are public schools and students enrolled in and attending the schools are required to take proficiency tests and other examinations prescribed by law. In addition, there may be other requirements for students at the schools that are prescribed by law. Students who have been excused from the compulsory attendance law for the purpose of home education as defined by the Administrative Code shall no longer be excused for that purpose upon their enrollment in a community school. For more information about this matter contact the school administration or the Ohio Department of Education.
