About HOPE Academies

The White Hat Way

Principle #6 – Empowering parents to be involved with their child’s education.

Parents are the too often the silent partner in the educational equation. At White Hat, we not only welcome parent involvement, we require it.

We expect the parents of our students to be as heavily involved in their child’s education as possible. We welcome parental input and suggestions and employ specially-trained family advocates and counselors in every school. We know parents of kids in our schools are the kind of parents who simply won’t let their kids fail. We give these parents the resources and support they need to make a difference. We also realize that there is no person that knows a student’s needs and desires better than a students. As such, we regularly request input from parents so that we can more fully and effectively serve our student’s individual needs.

The HOPE Academies and Riverside Academy are community schools established under Chapter 3314 of the Revised Code. These schools are public schools and students enrolled in and attending the schools are required to take proficiency tests and other examinations prescribed by law. In addition, there may be other requirements for students at the schools that are prescribed by law. Students who have been excused from the compulsory attendance law for the purpose of home education as defined by the Administrative Code shall no longer be excused for that purpose upon their enrollment in a community school. For more information about this matter contact the school administration or the Ohio Department of Education.
