John C. Morris
President of HOPE Academies

In May 2003, Mr. Morris was named White Hat Management's President of New Business Development and Community Relations. Mr. Morris is responsible for new school development nationwide, in addition to his ongoing work with board development and community and school relations.

Since joining White Hat Management in 1998, Mr. Morris has been instrumental in helping the company grow to become Ohio's foremost K-12 education management service provider, serving 28 charter schools across three states. White Hat and its affiliates serve over 10,000 students in its K-8 Academies, secondary Life Skills Centers, as well as its distance learning school.

Mr. Morris' extensive background includes the areas of manufacturing, international trade, and education. Prior to joining White Hat Management, Mr. Morris was the Human Resources Director for Markets International, an international consulting agency doing business primarily in the Caribbean. His educational background includes being a teacher at both the elementary and collegiate levels.

Mr. Morris received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Ohio's Central State University. His experiences at Central State helped define his concern for the health and well being of society that led him to an ongoing apprehension for the disparity that exists for many young people in American education. After college, Mr. Morris was an exemplary elementary school teacher for four years. At that time, he was offered a position in industry.

Continuing social issues urged him to leave his position in industry and start his own business. Consequently, following a government initiative urging American companies to set up shop in the Caribbean, Mr. Morris founded and directed the Human Resources division of an international trade firm called Markets International. However, talking to Mr. Morris quickly finds that his first consideration is education.

Mr. Morris continues to be dedicated to educational reform. This dedication translates into his goal to help young people have a superior education regardless of their family's income or where they live. Mr. Morris' zeal in obtaining this goal has been materialized through his success at White Hat Management.

Mr. Morris has garnered multiple accolades and awards during his career, including the 2003 Harold K. Stubbs Humanitarian Award for Education.
